NSF, Dept of Ed and other federal agencies have funded development of many great games. These games usually have a research base and strong evaluation, yet face two significant challenges for distribution: 1) universities that receive funding often lack the marketing skill to disseminate the games and 2) once the funded period is over, university researchers move on to the next project. It would be lovely to have a coordinated effort to locate these games/apps in their last year of funding and promote them to schools, individual users, etc. This would extend the initial funding to a larger audience, would coordinate content games for specific audiences, and bring more research-based games to a larger audience.
